![]() I’m thinking of adding in some of my button flowers for a little more texture in the bouquet. ![]() You can make them any color, vary the thickness and even experiment with other materials. I made one large, two medium and one small for this little bud vase. Trim the longer pieces of yarn, and then you’re done! Repeat steps to fill up your flower bouquet. Tie it tight so the knot is hidden in the middle of your pom pom. Take your long yarn ends and tie them in a double knot around your wire to make your pom pom more sturdy on the wire and not “floppy”. If it hurts your fingers or you want a tighter twist, you can use pliers. Start twisting your wires around each other, keeping them fairly tight. Your long ends should be at the bottom of your pom pom near the wire. Thread one end of your wire through your pom pom, making sure your wire goes through the middle where it’s tied together. I take my desired stem length times two and add two inches. You can make your stems any length you want. When you’re ready to create your flower, take a piece of floral wire and fold it in half. Leave the ends long of the piece you used to tie the knot if you’re going to make flowers out of your pom poms. Then trim some of the longer pieces or any that stick out farther than you’d like. You can open up the pom pom maker and release your pom pom. Wrap it around all the way to get ready to tie a knot. Take a six inch piece of yarn and slide it into the middle ridge of the pom pom maker. Take your scissors (it’s easier if they are fairly sharp) and place it in the middle ridge in the pom pom maker under your yarn, and start cutting. To me it looks like a big fat caterpillar.Ĭlose that side leaving about 6 inches of yarn, and repeat on the other side until both sides are fairly even. From the inside edge, leave about six inches of yarn and start wrapping around the semi-circle. Start by opening up both sides of the pom pom maker. I started with the large one to try to get the hang of it and figure out how much yarn I would need. I made my pom pom flowers a variety of sizes. There aren’t any instructions in English on the package, so you can follow my step-by-step tutorial below or feel free to watch the video I watched. After a few frustrating rounds of trying to make pom pom dogs with one of my nieces last year using a method with a fork, this seemed like something I needed in my craft stash! I didn’t know I needed pom pom flowers in my life (or gracing our kitchen table) until a few weeks ago when a post came across my Facebook feed with a video of the Clover Pom Pom Maker. The flowers have just started to peek through the ground, but I guess for a little while I’m going to have to be happy with substitutes like these cute pom pom yarn flowers I made recently. We went from mid 60’s to possible snow again this week. There have been some hybrids on the market recently with an expanded palette of colors, such as shades of cream, burgundy, and bi-colors, but the flavor is not always equal to that of the 'Gem' varieties. While Spring has officially started, I’m not sure where it’s hiding. 'Gem' Series are single-flowered signets with very fern-like foliage. They come in yellow and orange, with fitting cultivar names such as 'Orange Gem,' 'Tangerine Gem', 'Red Gem', and 'Lemon Gem'. They look totally different from bedding marigolds, with lacy leaves and small, single, daisy-like flowers.
